The statutory fostering allowance is currently €352 per week for a child over 12 years old and €325 per week for a child under 12 yrs old. This allowance is paid per child and only whilst the child is in the care of a foster carer.

This allowance can vary depending on placement type.

We look to locally resourced knowledge and the latest research in informing our training and development programme.

This is to offer both our foster families and staff a continuing knowledge base in how best to meet the needs of the children in our care.

Each of our prospective carers receive the Foundations in Fostering Training.

We have also developed a specialised training and support package based on the Origin’s philosophy and the most up-to-date research and knowledge in the areas of child development, attachment and trauma.

We provide prospective carers with a high level of support as they go through the assessment process.

Stages of the assessment process:

  1. Enquiry
  2. Initial Screening
  3. Training

  5. Approval Committee
