Welcome to another instalment of our Inside Origins series, where we showcase the dedicated individuals behind the support at Origins Foster Care. Today, we spotlight Zahra, whose ten-year journey through social work has brought her invaluable insights and deep commitment to foster care.
Zahra's professional path began with her master's degree in Social Work London, followed by roles that spanned from the UK back to her current position with Origins Foster Care.
It's the foster carers who do the day-to-day hard grind.
Her tenure at Tusla in child protection and fostering roles underscored the essential contributions of foster carers, steering her to work directly with supporting them. But Zahra's desire to be a part of the world of social work began much earlier, when she was still in school.
Zahra has always known that her career would be in social work. From her early days in secondary school through to her extensive volunteering – including mentoring and engaging with community projects like Saint Vincent de Paul – Zahra was steadfast in her pursuit of a career that matched her passion for helping others.
Now with Origins for just shy of a year, Zahra's role as a Senior Practitioner and Link Social Worker involves direct engagement with foster carers, providing them with the support and resources necessary to nurture the children in their care effectively.
Zahra's journey from engaged and empathetic teen to working in foster care illustrates the incredible impact that dedicated individuals can have on both children in care and those who care for them.
